Film director Ingmar Bergman was a frequent writer of notes. To celebrate Ingmar Bergman's 100th anniversary, Bergman's characteristic handwriting has been made into a web font.
For over 60 years, Ingmar Bergman wrote everything – from entire manuscripts to passing thoughts – by hand in his yellow notebooks. To commemorate the centenary of his birth, we have created a font based upon his handwriting. Add a touch of drama to your everyday life by having Bergman write your grocery list, a greeting to grandmother or a shout out in social media. […]

You can now listen to the full soundtrack for the film "Blade Runner 2049" by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch on Spotify.
The album sounds very mystic and powerful with that 80's synth vibe, very similar to Vangelis original soundtrack for the first "Blade Runner" film. And that was one of the reasons why director Denis Villeneuve decided to go with Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch instead of Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. From IndieWire:
"The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory. It.s an artistic process. You cannot plan things. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of my favorite composers alive today. He's a very strong artist," Villeneuve told Al Arabiya English. "But the movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to Vangelis. Jóhan and I decided that I will need to go in another direction — that's what I will say. I hope I have the chance to work with him again because I think he’s really a fantastic composer."
You can listen to the "Blade Runner" soundtrack by Vangelis in one of my earlier posts.
Masterclass is offering a class in filmmaking with director Martin Scorsese that will be available in the beginning of 2018. The masterclass will include more than 20 video lessons and cost $90 for a lifetime access.
After having binge watching the German TV series "Deutschland 83" (2015), the TV series "The Same Sky" (2016), that is set in Cold War Berlin in the 70's, is my substitute.
East Germany (GDR), 1974. Lars Weber – young, ambitious, impenetrable – will soon have to prove his loyalty to his country; the 25-year-old knows that every step forward in the GDR comes with strings attached... For Lars, this means being sent to West Berlin as an East-German “Romeo” agent. His mission is to seduce women working in sensitive positions in the West. One of them is Lauren Faber, a high-ranking British intelligence officer and lonely single mother of a rebellious teen. Lauren's younger colleague Sabine Cutter is deeply attracted to Lars. However, none of the two is aware of the secret they share…
While Lars and Lauren constitute the core of this volatile saga of passion and deceit, other richly detailed characters on both sides of the Wall are also moving deftly among Stasi and CIA spies. The gay teacher Axel cannot bear the oppressiveness of the GDR any longer. He and a group of friends undertake one of the most foolhardy escape attempts imaginable: digging a tunnel beneath the Wall. Lars' cousin Klara, in turn, is an excellent swimmer who's blissful when she gets the chance to join the GDR Olympic Swim Team. Having grown up in the shadow of her brilliant sister Juliane, Klara will do anything to become a winner and starts taking pills that produce disturbing side effects…
As the the Iron Curtain seems impenetrable, the protagonists on either side of the wall seek security, humanity and freedom. They may have different systems and different lives, but they all share the same sky.
And thankfully for viewers outside Europe, the TV series is now released on Netflix.
Until the soundtrack of "Blade Runner 2049" (2017) is released featuring Jóhann Jóhannsson and Paul Woolford, enjoy the soundtrack from its predecessor "Blade Runner" from 1982 that was accompanied by Vangelis.
In the up-coming series "Jean-Claude Van Johnson" produced by Amazon Studios, actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme plays himself as a retired martial artist that now works as an undercover agent.

To honor the date when fictional character Marty McFly in the "Back to the Future" trilogy arrived in the future on October 21, 2015, Joel Bocko created the following video tribute about the fictional town in Northern California called Hill Valley.
Depending when Marty visits Hill Valley it might be a frontier town, an idyllic 1950s neighborhood, a sleek 21st-century metropolis, or a dystopian alternate-universe hellhole. This video allows Hill Valley to inhabit all those modes at once, with four screens simultaneously depicting past (distant and recent), present, and future. Or is that the future? The day that Marty visited in Back to the Future Part II was October 21, 2015, so from today's standpoint we can compare not just he three or four time periods on display but the fiction onscreen with the fact offscreen. "Welcome to Hill Valley" explores the ways that fashion, architecture, and behavior have changed, as well as the ways they have stayed the same. As Biff Tanner says, "There's something very familiar about all of this..."

"The Wizard of Lies" is a film about investment advisor and financier Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme. Directed by Barry Levinson, the film airs on HBO in May.
Robert De Niro (Oscar® winner for "Raging Bull" and "The Godfather II") comes to HBO for the first time in the role of family patriarch Bernie Madoff. Also on HBO for the first time, Michelle Pfeiffer (Golden Globe winner for "The Fabulous Baker Boys") stars as Ruth Madoff, Bernie's longtime spouse and unwitting partner during the events that would lead to financial ruin for countless people and institutions, as well as his and his family's destruction.
Dieter Meier who wrote the song "Oh Yeah" (1985) with his partner Boris Blank when they were the duo Yello, did some really good investments with the money he received from including the song in the famous 80's film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986). Today, Meier's investments have earned him a $175 million fortune, but he has still not seen the film that started it all.
"I never saw the whole film," Meier told the paper."I think once I saw this one famous scene when the guy, I think he opens the garage for his father's Ferrari."
After appearing in the 1986 hit, the song was featured in "The Secret of My Success" starring Michael J. Fox, along with "She's Out of Control" starring Tony Danza, and "K-9" starring James Belushi.

The film "Four Brothers" (2005) that stars Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, André 3000 and Garrett Hedlund, has an excellent soundtrack that combines Motown-classics and instrumental tracks by David Arnold.
Haven't listened to this soundtrack for awhile, I put it on this morning and enjoyed the music through our newly purchased Geneva Sound System, a delight for the ears.
Listen to the album on Spotify. The score by Arnold do you find here.

Twenty years have gone by since the release of the film "Trainspotting". Here is the trailer for the up-coming sequel "T2 Trainspotting" (2017) directed by Danny Boyle.
To transform video footage into a cinematic look, you can use something called 3D LUTs that, simply explained, when applied give your footage a new color scheme.
The recent change of video editor Filmora enables the use of LUTs, and since there is a good market with free and paid 3D LUTs, it's easy to get that specific look from a Blockbuster movie you've been wanting to recreate.

Filmora already comes with a couple of great built-in 3D LUTs such as "Star Wars" and "Game of Thrones", but if those aren't enough, Filmora handles most of the LUTs I've come across fairly well. My guess is that in future updates of Filmora, you'll get more control of tailoring the settings of the LUTs your using since some of them, but not many, can ruin the look of your footage if set in default mode.
The one resource that helped me greatly in collecting a wide variety of LUTs was the extensive guide put together by film editor Jonny Elwyn. Most of the resources on this page is the same ones that you'll find after a Google search for free and paid 3D LUTs.
Happy color grading!
Despite not having any prior experiences working with film, Swedish James Bond enthusiasts Mats-Ola Pålsson and Lars Gahlin decided to make a movie that brings back the classic James Bond vibe.
"We always liked Bond and grew up with Connery and Moore, but we thought the recent films were missing that special Bond feeling," producer and director Gahlin told The Local.
"So as a joke I said: someone should make the last 'real' Bond film."
It's one thing to say you're going to make a movie, and another thing entirely to do it, but the next day Gahlin and Pålsson followed up on their idea by sitting down with a piece of paper and starting to write a story.

Like so many others, the growing popularity of videos and the business of vlogging has led me in the search for an easy-to-use, yet powerful, video editor.
After some extensive research, I found out about Wondershare's Filmora Video Editor.
What caught my interest initially with this program was it's nicely designed interface, something that just recently had been re-designed. The new interface looks organized and self-explanatory, and to make the recent change even better, you can shift the interface between a light and dark color scheme.

With the recent change of the interface along with a few other important and useful changes such as an improved audio tool mixer, the ability to record your screen and an added animated GIF tool, Filmora's developer team seems to be keen to implement user suggestions of new features.
Filmora Video Editor comes with many different library special effects, but additional theme-based effects packs like the "80's Retro Collection" and "Fashion Collection" are being offered for a very modest price tag, while many of them are completely for free.

To get going with the video editor is easy because of the excellent user guides that are being offered such as text tutorials or video instructions. Filmora's YouTube channel seems to be growing in a fast pace with lots of tips and tricks being added.
Having imported my first media files, it didn't take long before I finished my very first short video. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it built confidence in myself and the program.

To try out the software, Wondershare offers you unlimited and full access to Filmora, with just one limitation – the free version will create a large watermark on the exported video. But, what I like about this offer is that everyone who wants to get started making videos can do it right away, and when you have finished a few projects you can just buy a license, rest assured that you have examined the program thoroughly.
To buy a license for personal use currently costs $29.99/year or a $49.99 one-time-fee that will include free future updates. If you need to use Filmora on additional computers or for use within business and school, different prices occur.
With a video editor that seems to undergo a major transformation, that's a pretty good deal. Take notice Adobe Premiere!

The TED Talk editing toolkit is small when compared to ones used to cut a narrative feature or documentary. And that's why it's a good place to start as an introduction to the art of editing. We use continuity editing to maintain a consistent feeling of space and time over the duration of the talk. But overall, we strive to keep our edits invisible. […]
I have seen the Netflix TV series "Stranger Things" being mentioned all over the net for the last couple of weeks, but have yet to watch it.

The short film "Steel Town" directed by Robin Mason takes us to the town of Port Talbot in South Wales, the home to one of UK's largest steelworks.
There's a feeling of rawness and authenticity in this short that I think the filmmakers managed to convey in an excellent way.
