British Open: Watch the Documentary Series "Chronicles of a Champion Golfer" for Free

This year the 149th Open Championship that was to be held at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England, got cancelled due to obvious reasons. Last time the Open Championship was cancelled happened during the World War II.

On the official Open Championship site you can still enjoy some great content like one of my favorite documentary series "Chronicles of a Champion Golfer" and Open Championship recap videos from 1970 until now, among other video materials.

To start watching for free, you just add your email adress (this is also your login username and password). No other information is no longer required to join their "The One Club", a reason why I personally hasn't used this free service until now.

'The View from Touffou' (1981): A Rare Video Presentation of Marketing Techniques by Advertising Giant David Ogily

In this rare 40 minutes long video from 1981, advertising giant David Ogilvy shares some useful marketing techniques and strategies, as well as anecdotes from his private and professional life.

The video is entitled "The View from Touffou" since it was being filmed at Ogilvy's home, a French castle Touffou he bought in 1966, and was aimed toward Ogilvy's staff and clients.

The below version is one of the better ones I found in regards to quality, despite it being hardcoded with a Czech subtitle.

The documentary "Becoming Warren Buffett" (2017) produced by HBO is full of good lifestyle and investment principles from one of the greatest investors of our time, principles that have the capacity to enrich your life.

The description above may sound cliché, but when I watched this documentary upon its release, I was happily surprised that it gave me, not only great financial advice, but advice for a happy life as well.

Here is the synopsis from the HBO site:

With a net worth of over $60,000,000,000, Warren Buffett is truly a one-of-a-kind billionaire. The legendary investor still lives in a modest home in Omaha, and drives himself to the office every morning to manage Berkshire Hathaway. Watch the Classic Graffiti and Hip-hop Documentary 'Style Wars' (1983)

You can now watch the classic graffiti and hip-hop documentary "Style Wars" (1983) over at archive.org (with a hardcoded Spanish subtitle however).

The synopsis taken from the official documentary site:

Directed by Tony Silver and produced by Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant, it was awarded the Grand Prize for Documentaries at the 1983 Sundance Film Festival. STYLE WARS is regarded as the indispensable document of New York Street culture of the early '80s, the filmic record of a golden age of youthful creativity that exploded into the world from a city in crisis.

STYLE WARS captured the look and feel of New York's ramshackle subway system as graffiti writers' public playground, battleground and spectacular artistic canvas. Opposing them by every means possible were Mayor Edward Koch, the police, and the New York Transit Authority. Meanwhile MCs, DJs and B-boys rocked the city with new sounds and new moves and street corner breakdance battles evolved into performance art.

Watch One of the Best Made Documentaries About Donald Trump

One of the best made documentaries about Donald Trump can once again be seen online for free – the documentary "Trump: What's the Deal?" (1991). I wrote a post about this documentary last summer in which I wrote the following:

Elements of extortion, poor working conditions, exaggerations and dissatisfied and overcharged tenants – it's all here in the resurfaced documentary "Trump: What's the Deal?" that Donald Trump successfully managed to prevent from airing 25 years ago until now.

Head over to The Internet Archive to watch the documentary for free.

Watch the German Cold War Drama 'The Same Sky' (2016) on Netflix

After having binge watching the German TV series "Deutschland 83" (2015), the TV series "The Same Sky" (2016), that is set in Cold War Berlin in the 70's, is my substitute.

East Germany (GDR), 1974. Lars Weber – young, ambitious, impenetrable – will soon have to prove his loyalty to his country; the 25-year-old knows that every step forward in the GDR comes with strings attached... For Lars, this means being sent to West Berlin as an East-German “Romeo” agent. His mission is to seduce women working in sensitive positions in the West. One of them is Lauren Faber, a high-ranking British intelligence officer and lonely single mother of a rebellious teen. Lauren's younger colleague Sabine Cutter is deeply attracted to Lars. However, none of the two is aware of the secret they share…

While Lars and Lauren constitute the core of this volatile saga of passion and deceit, other richly detailed characters on both sides of the Wall are also moving deftly among Stasi and CIA spies. The gay teacher Axel cannot bear the oppressiveness of the GDR any longer. He and a group of friends undertake one of the most foolhardy escape attempts imaginable: digging a tunnel beneath the Wall. Lars' cousin Klara, in turn, is an excellent swimmer who's blissful when she gets the chance to join the GDR Olympic Swim Team. Having grown up in the shadow of her brilliant sister Juliane, Klara will do anything to become a winner and starts taking pills that produce disturbing side effects…

As the the Iron Curtain seems impenetrable, the protagonists on either side of the wall seek security, humanity and freedom. They may have different systems and different lives, but they all share the same sky.

And thankfully for viewers outside Europe, the TV series is now released on Netflix.
