Time Lapse of the Voyageurs National Park

The short "Voyageurs" by filmmakers Will Pattiz and Jim Pattiz shows the incredible nature found in the Voyageurs National Park, a short that was selected for National Geographic's Short Film Showcase series.

In the northernmost tip of Minnesota, Voyageurs National Park is a watery wonderland of pristine lakes, big fish, and incredible night skies. With a third of its area covered by lakes, the park is named for the fur-trading French Canadian voyageurs who paddled birchbark canoes in the 18th and 19th centuries. In this hypnotizing time-lapse, filmmakers Will Pattiz and Jim Pattiz capture the dancing northern lights and scenic beauty of Voyageurs National Park.

Watch BBC's Three-Part Series 'Alaska: Earth's Frozen Kingdom' (2015)

BBC has done it again! The three-part series "Alaska: Earth's Frozen Kingdom" (2015) presents the beautiful landscape of Alaska in an entertaining and perfect way.

Alaska is the latest wildlife trilogy from the BBC’s award-winning Natural History Unit, showcasing one of the most iconic wildernesses on the planet.

Narrated by Dougray Scott, this three-part series takes in a year in Alaska, revealing the stories of pioneering Alaskans, both animal and human, as they battle the elements and reap the benefits of nature’s seasonal gold rush.

Alaska is huge – by far the biggest US state, and still one of the wildest places on earth. It has deep forests and vast mountain ranges, and a third of it sits above the Arctic Circle.

The whole state goes through some of the most extreme seasonal changes: where temperatures can reach in to the 90°s F in summer and can plummet to -80°F in the winter.

Yet plenty survives here, and it is home to some of the hardiest animals on the planet. Each one has its own quirky way of getting through the challenges of the seasons. Above all, this is a land of great characters.

Firefly Experience: Watch Nature's Own Light Show

It's fascinating to watch fireflies lit up the evening. I have yet to observe this phenomena in real life, and think the first time I heard about fireflies was when I watched the film "Fireflies in the Garden" (2008) – a film with a very good soundtrack by the way – with Ryan Gosling in the lead.

Get back to nature with Radim Schreiber's short film "Firefly Experience", shot in Fairfield, Iowa. The film is accompanied with music by Tiko Lasola.
