Abandoned Places by Photographer Christer Richter

Photographer Christer Richter became interested of abandoned places after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, reports Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten. Growing up in East Germany, Richter started to photograph some of the buildings that got abandoned when people started to leave the East and move to the West.

Up until today, Richter has visited close to 1 000 abandoned places and buildings located in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and Poland.

To avoid possible destruction of the buildings, he never reveals their true location.

Richter's photographs which are a real treat and a valuable connection to the past, can be seen on his Instagram account.
